Kacie + Jacob | Pony Pasture Engagement

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

I woke up Friday and it was raining. I checked the weather anticipating I’d have to make a call to postpone or cancel our shoot, but there was hope in the weather report, so I just leaned on hope a little harder. Kacie and Jake had emailed me a few weeks earlier – they were planning their engagement for a week when they were together. I only had spoken to them over the phone and through email, so I was excited to meet both of them in person!

We chose Pony Pasture because Kacie wanted something down by the river but the normaly visible rocks were covered with rushing water – it was unexpected, but we made the most of it! Jake and Kacie are such a cool couple. Sweet as all get out. We had so much fun romping around the [sometimes muddy] grounds of the park and I just know that the two of them are going to plan a wedding as beautiful and as fun as they are!

Sean + Leslie | Monument Avenue Engagement

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

When a bride has a request, no matter how crazy, I want to make it happen. It’s just my personality. I’m a little stubborn that way. So when Leslie casually mentioned that she would love to have her engagement session in the snow, I got a little worried. I’ve lived in Northern Virginia and mountain towns, so snow was a norm during the winter, but I wasn’t sure about Richmond – were we too far south?!

No.

A few days ago, it snowed. And I called Leslie – “Can you do an engagement session today!?” An hour and a half later we were meeting on Monument to shoot for a few hours. It was cold – freezing actually – but beautiful white untouched snow was EVERYWHERE! Leslie and Sean are troopers – at the end, we were all ready to be finished, but it was a success! And these two are adorable.

A Promotion and the Liquor Store

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

WOW.

It feels like we just got to Charlottesville. Oh wait. I did. A little over 5 months ago, Chad and I were unpacking from Winston Salem, eating Chinese on the floor of our new two bedroom apartment. As I sat just a few days ago in the car in front of Panera where Chad quickly explained to me that we could be moving to Richmond in JANUARY, I felt kind of numb. But we just got here?! We love our church! We love our new friends! I just started networking in the Charlottesville wedding community! It seemed like a great plan to stay. And a great opportunity to move.

I am so proud of my husband for the amazing hard work he does. Plus, he allows me to do what I love. We prayed and battled with this decision during our Thanksgiving holiday. You can spot our agony in my post on change a few weeks back. BUT, the time came and went to put in our choice, and here it is.

So, like we did 6 months ago, I’ll be visiting the liquor store for their amazingly stiff and strong boxes. Let the packing begin! If you live in the Richmond area, and have any advice on apartments, Chinese food, or anything else that would he helpful, please let me know either in the comments, or shoot me an email! I want lots of River City coffee dates!!
