I did my make-up while I listened to The Band Perry pandora station. It’s his favorite band, so I was hoping the songs would get stuck in my head and I’d hum them during the quiet moments. I wore heals – which is a big deal since I’ve been nursing a sprained toe all wedding season. After the typical search laps around the house, I finally put my hand on my keys and phone, and walked out the door 5 minutes later than I had planned. I made up the time on the drive, and along the way, I made up excuses I’d tell the cop if I got pulled over. “It’s my second anniversary, and I’m running late.” Actually that was the truth – not just an excuse. Just like a first date, I walked up hoping I’d take his breath away. Hoping he’d fall in love all over again, and harder. I was aware of the way I held my shoulders and the way I wasn’t completely stable in my 2.5 inch heals. So aware, that I waked right past him. I told the hostess that I was here to meet my husband, and she pointed me back outside. He hates sitting outside, but that night, he had planned to because I love sitting outside. Two years feels like two minutes, but I feel like I’ve known him forever.
