I remember when I first met Amanda. I remember thinking she was so cute! We’re both JMUers, and involved with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. We both lived in the Dude Ranch [we name houses at JMU]. And we both had crushes on guys in the Nut House. But what can I say about these two? This wedding just felt right. These two are so comfortable with each other, as you saw in their engagement shoot. It was such a pleasure shooting this wedding. It was the last wedding of the wedding season for me and it was great that it was a wedding with so many friends. Super classy, but with a touch of casual, Amanda planned a fabulous event. Enjoy these images!

Although the pearl above is gorgeous, Diron surprised Amanda with another pearl necklace that “he wasn’t supposed to get!!”

MARRIED!!!

Decision is a risk rooted in the courage of being free.
~ Paul Tillich, German Theologian
I have been realizing lately that I am much better at the concept of OBEDIENCE than I am at DISCERNMENT. And that might be true of everyone, but the realization just manifested itself in my life. Chad and I have been writing pros and cons lists, having long moments of thinking. And talking. We’ve been mourning potential loss and celebrating potential gain. Thanking God for opportunity and wishing it away at the same time. Over the next few weeks, I’ll have more details, but as for now, I just ask for your prayers in the area of being confident in making decisions.

I’m starting to experience how fun it is to shoot in the same town in which you live. I love having a chance to scout out a few places to shoot before I arrive. The shoot goes by SO fast because only a small percentage of time is spent finding the light. Laura and Pete are getting married in Charlottesville next year and I’m so excited we’re working together. Laura is a JMU grad, and like most JMU brides, she is AWESOME. So energetic, and as a mutual friend described, “A bubbly little thing!” We had a blast wandering around. Laura loved different textures so we tried to incorporate those as much as possible! Pete, you’re great too. I think I made you sit in mud at some point. Thanks for putting up with me! Again, so excited for this wedding!

The only bride I’ll ever meet who was glad it snowed on her wedding day. A wedding that was supposed to be outside. Because TR proposed on the ski slopes, she was happy to have the snow as a little reminder. She giggled as she told me how he fell a few times and was afraid, not that he’d lost it, but that he might have broken it. I learned through a teary speech from the the best man and brother of the groom just how perfect these two are for each other. They seem to bring out the best. Claudia and TR, congrats!!
Thanks to Landsdowne for the beautiful setting and Melissa Schwartz Jones for the Bridal Party’s hair and make-up.

LOVE the photo of Claudia and her dad captured by my second, Sarah.

I heard lots of “Black and Yellow” type songs…HERE WE GO.

Although I’ve been in Charlottesville since May, I’ve not had but a hand full of shoots here. It takes time to let people know I’m here! Nikki and Corey are getting married in Fredericksburg next year, but were excited to come to Charlottesville for their engagement session for “something different. We drove around looking for parks with parking and water. The water was the tricky one. I spent time on google maps looking for little blue dots and lines representing rivers and ponds. It was great to get out and explore my still-new city! Anyway, Nikki and Corey arrived and off we went to the locations I had scouted out. Nikki and Corey are so fun together. They have a child-like, playful kind of love. They make each other laugh, and are clearly so right for each other. Enjoy these images!!

PRETTY. Both of you. I can see those bright green eyes from here.

We planned to meet for a client meeting. Halley had the BRILLIANT idea to do not only a client meeting, but also an engagement session. It had snowed the day before. Using the Starbucks on Union and King as our warm retreat, we strolled around Alexandria and chatted, shot, got to know one another… and shivered! Kevin and Halley met each other through a mutual friend from their Florida university. They hit it off, and now here they are planning a Charlottesville wedding! Congrats on your engagement, you two!
